COMMENTARY:
THE CHALLENGE FACING RELIGION IN A MORE LIBERAL WORLD

Over the last hundred years, Western countries have made huge changes aimed at empowering women, reducing discrimination, allowing contraception and abortion, legalizing divorce, homosexuality and gay marriage.

The Catholic Church has joined conservatives in opposing almost all of these developments, and still has in its Catechism the teaching that anyone who uses contraception, remarries after divorce, is a practicing homosexual or has an abortion, is committing a "mortal sin" and will be eternally damned if they die without repentance.

These teachings have alienated ordinary Catholics and many priests (see article). Only 10% of Catholics in Australia attend mass regularly, one in four Australian parishes is now without a full-time priest, and there are very few Australian priests being ordained (see 2011 report). Importing priests from "cultures that are tribal and patriarchal" has only made the situation worse. The Church needs a reformation, starting with removing the doctrine of "eternal damnation" which was certainly not taught by Jesus and is the very opposite of everything researchers have learned about the afterlife.

THE IMPORTANCE OF VERIDICAL PERCEPTIONS IN NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES
Investigation of apparently non-physical veridical perceptions (AVPs) during NDEs has been the subject of much experimental and phenomenological research since 1988. Jan Holden’s study (2006/2009) showed that over 90% of cases of AVPs from NDE literature were completely accurate.

MICHAEL TYMN'S INTERVIEW WITH DR. ANABELA CARDOSO
Michael Tymn writes: "Until I read Cardoso’s 2010 book, Electronic Voices: Contact with Another Dimension? I wasn’t overly impressed with the evidence for ITC (Instrumental Transcommunication), EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) or DRV (Direct Radio Voices). In previously exploring the subject, all I had heard were some muffled or garbled “words” that required some imagination, sort of like looking for faces or figures in the clouds. However, Cardoso’s book offered much more than a few words here and there. There was actual dialogue taking place in her experiments, some involving philosophical discussions. Her latest book adds to the evidence " Read this fascinating interview...

SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE THAT WE UNCONSCIOUSLY KNOW THE FUTURE This distinguished Texas physician, deeply rooted in the scientific world, has become an internationally influential advocate of the role of the mind in health and the role of spirituality in healthcare. Here he talks about pre-cognition and pre-sentiment experiments conducted by Dr. Dean Radin and his colleagues. Scroll down to 6th section to access links to reports on these experiments.

SHIRLEY MACLAINE: WE REMEMBER THOSE CELEBRITIES WHO WERE AMONG THE FIRST TO SPREAD THE LIGHT
We live in a world where celebrities have a disproportionate influence on public opinion, perhaps even more than 99% of scientists. We need to be grateful to those celebrities who have gone public with their belief in the afterlife. Shirley Maclaine was one who bravely informed the world of her interest in the paranormal, mediums and channellers. For years, many uninformed celebrities tried to make jokes about Shirley and her paranormal beliefs. However we now have a huge amount of evidence to support Shirley Maclean's claims. Thank you, Shirley, and may you keep on spreading the Light.

CREMATION v BURIAL Very highly credible afterlife teachers tell us that the spiritual way of handling the body when a person dies is cremation. We are credibly informed that we should completely sever links with earth once we die. There are those orthodox believers who believe, without evidence, that it is best to bury the dead "six feet underground." This is taken from old beliefs about the "resurrection of the body" and the dead being woken for a last judgment before being sent off to eternal hellfire or to heaven. We now know that is NOT going to happen. On crossing over our consciousness CONTINUES to survive and goes to a place compatible with its vibrations; the good, average, open-minded person is met by loved ones and taken to the realm of the Light.

WHAT IS AN EVIDENTIAL READING WITH A MEDIUM?
Arthur Findlay College tutor, Martin Twycross, explains the kind of evidence a well-trained medium can give.

MEDIUM SUSANNE WILSON DOING READINGS AT HELPING PARENTS HEAL at Unity of Phoenix on December 18th, 2016.

HELPING PARENTS HEAL TO OPEN IN AUSTRALIA? Helping Parents Heal is a wonderful organisation designed to allow parents whose children have transitioned to support each other. Unlike many bereavement support organisations, members share knowledge about signs, after death contacts, mediums and other methods of direct communication with their children. We can personally attest that HPH meetings are uplifting, inspiring and enlightening. If you would like to help sponsor the cost of a zoom room ($21 Australian per month) so that HPH can start online meetings for Australia and New Zealand, please email books@victorzammit.com

HIGHLY INSPIRED SPIRITUAL ORATORY DIRECTLY FROM THE AFTERLIFE:
"Light triumphs over darkness, knowledge defeats ignorance; joy replaces sorrow and truth is always victorious. Ours is the constant fight against selfishness, self-interest, the powers that belong to all the darkness of life. Prejudice, superstition, error, jealousy, greed, avarice, hate - against these, we are at war! We seek to advance our cause wherever we can, wherever we find receptive hearts, receptive minds, receptive souls." (S.Birch, A Voice in the Wilderness).

QUESTION: "Is it supposed that all of the wicked men (and women) who have come to these lands have, upon their dissolution, 'turned over a new leaf' and while in no sense becoming angels, at least shown some signs of repentance?

Mons. Hugh Benson (a highly credible Catholic priest while alive): "It would be the height of foolishness to think so. The very nature of their passing has in so many instances served to intensify their hatred, and now their aim is to seek vengeance wherever and whenever it is possible. The evil leaders are here in the spirit world, a fine concentration of evil."

WHAT IS THE GREATEST ENEMY OF SPIRITUAL REFINEMENT? We are informed directly from the afterlife that materialism is the greatest enemy of spirituality. Why?

Materialism,
1. refers to those who do not accept that there is a soul separate from the body;
2. produces selfishness, greed, negative stubbornness - all qualities which lower the vibrations of the soul;
3. teaches that at death the person ceases to exist.

While there is nothing wrong with seeking to become educated, live in a good environment and employ household appliances to save time, there has to be a balance. Care for self needs to be balanced with care for others. Time spent on the things of the world needs to be balanced with time spent on things of the spirit.

FEEDBACK: Two only

1) "Hello again,
I wanted to follow up in regards to an email I sent a while back. It simply offered some supportive resources for those who may be lost in their grief. As you know, it comes in many forms and hits people in different ways (and for varying periods of time), so I think it’s important for people to get all of the support they can in times of difficulty. Thanks in advance for adding these, and thanks for all you’re doing already to offer people a hand in overcoming their bereavement.

2) "Re your item on mistakes.
It reminded me of an incident in a Greek lesson. A lady (who is my age) refused to stand up and speak in class "because I'm afraid that I might make a mistake". I explained that the whole point of learning a foreign language is to learn from mistakes. It's impossible to learn anything without making mistakes.

I have spent my entire life making mistakes and my coping strategy was always to joke about it. I still do. In fact I got so used to having people laugh at me that I grew to enjoy it. So, nowadays, I have zero fear of making a mistake. I accept it as inevitable, knowing that I'll learn from it, and hoping that it will make others laugh."
Martin Pickering.

HIGHLY INSPIRED MUSIC:
Visually magnificent, sweetest melody, wonderful experience listening to this spectacular music by A. Lloyd-Webber from the Phantom of the Opera. 'Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again' and 'Phantom of the Opera' sung beautifully by Sierra Boggess as Christine, followed by - herself and Ramin Karimloo in a powerful rendition of the Phantom of the Opera title song.
