COMMENTARY: LIVING YOUR BEST LIFE
We live in a death-denying society. Many in developed countries think that they are going to live for a thousand years – forgetting that we only live for just a few decades and that at any time we are just a heartbeat away from eternity.
One of the problems of modern life is that we are conditioned to pursue material goals - a career, dream house, or a comfortable retirement. There is nothing wrong with this in itself, but sometimes it is not in your soul's plan.
Pursuing material goals single-mindedly may mean that you never get around to having the experiences that you came here for, or that there is no time left to foster the most important human qualities of love, kindness, cooperation and caring - even within families.
FORGIVENESS IS OFTEN NEEDED BY THOSE WHO HAVE DIED One of the main things our loved ones say when they communicate through a medium is that they want forgiveness. This is illustrated in the following extract from a book by Laura Lynne Jackson, a medium certified by the Forever Family Foundation and the Windbridge Institute. PIONEER AFTERLIFE RESEARCH BY JAMES HEWAT McKENZIE
After a personal encounter with a psychic medium, James Hewat McKenzie (1869-1929) took a year's leave from his practice as a psychologist and psychoanalyst in 1900. He spent the next 29 years studying mediumship and experimenting with some of the greatest physical and trance mediums of the early 20th century. He spent many years touring and lecturing in the United States, both seeking and studying mediums. In 1920 he founded the British College of Psychic Science as a center for information, advice, and guidance, where psychic mediums of good reputation could be consulted, and where scientific research into psychic phenomena could take place. His book has wonderful chapters on physical mediumship and a section that describes the afterlife in very similar terms to those used in Anthony Borgia's "Life in the World Unseen." USING SCIENTIFIC METHOD FOR AFTERLIFE RESEARCH Dr. Charles Tart argued that traditional science has unnecessarily limited itself and that it is possible to use scientific method to investigate spiritual subjects. In 1977 he founded the
INSTITUTE FOR THE SCIENTIFIC STUDY OF CONSCIOUSNESS [ISSC] a non-profit educational and research institution created to study various aspects of consciousness, including altered states, transpersonal experiences, and the potential for extrasensory perception (ESP) using scientific method. ALBERT BEST - BRILLIANT HEALER AND MEDIUM Albert Best was an Irish medium who moved to Scotland. He was the mentor to the famous Scottish psychic/medium, Gordon Smith. In addition to being a medium, he was also a spiritual healer. While he was serving overseas in WWII his wife and three children were killed in an air raid on Belfast. Later in life he claimed that he had been able to embrace his materialized wife and three children during a home circle with a materialization medium in Glasgow.
On his deathbed, he saw his wife and children in the room with him. Witnesses, including Gordon Smith, state that there were tears of joy in his eyes, and he told visitors: 'They've come, you will have to let me go'. He gave a last smile and slipped into a coma from which he never awoke. He passed into Spirit on Friday 12th April 1996. THE SUPER-PSI HYPOTHESIS Afterlife researchers have always been concerned to eliminate the possibility that a medium might be getting information from a living person, rather than from someone who has died.
