WHY MEDIUMSHIP IS CENTRAL TO SPIRITUALISM
Mediumship has been central to Spiritualism since its beginning in 1848. This practice demonstrates Spiritualism's core belief that consciousness survives bodily death and communication between the living and the deceased is possible. In almost all Spiritualist meetings, there is a demonstration by a medium—something that sets it apart from other religions and philosophies. Rather than basing its teachings on ancient texts, Spiritualism relies on the guidance that experienced mediums bring from what adherents believe are evolved teachers in the spirit world.
Whereas religions call for "faith" that there is an afterlife, Spiritualism offers what practitioners describe as personal experience through communication with deceased loved ones. This provides considerable comfort to people and is especially valued during times of widespread losses from wars and pandemics.
Spiritualist churches also offer training in mediumship and healing through development circles, usually funded by donations to cover costs or a modest fee. This has traditionally been provided without discrimination based on age, gender, or race, as Spiritualism maintains that anyone can potentially develop mediumistic abilities.
Today, there are many claimed sources of evidence for the afterlife, such as near-death experiences, out-of-body experiences, electronic voice phenomena, past-life and inter-life regressions, and pre-birth memories. However, a message from what believers consider a skilled medium often provides people with what they perceive as immediate personal experience that opens them to the possibility that "there is more."

MEDIUMSHIP IS A NATURAL GIFT Monseigneur Hugh Benson was a conservative Catholic priest who, while alive, wrote books attacking Spiritualism. After he transitioned, he sought permission to come through a young medium he had known in life to undo the damage of his writings. Several books of his teachings have been published by the medium, Anthony Borgia.

"It was never part of the scheme of things that our two worlds, yours and ours, should be separated, as it were, into two compartments forever shut off from each other from sight and sound. But Orthodoxy, in one form or another, has tried to eliminate spiritual intercourse or to prevent it, by suppressing the instruments whereby such communication is effected. Orthodoxy was not successful—and never will be. The spirit world is vastly stronger than Orthodoxy, and will ever be so."

Jackie Jones-Hunt, Ph.D., in her book "Moses and Jesus The Shamans", gives detailed evidence of the way that the mediumistic experiences of various prophets led to the birth of religions and how spiritual beliefs are still evolving due to contact with elevated spirits. The book explains mistranslations in the Bible that erroneously condemn mediumship & ask for blind faith.
