COMMENTARY: WHY DON'T MORE PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THE EVIDENCE FOR THE AFTERLIFE? Sadly, combined pressure by materialist science and dogmatic religion in Western society has created a "taboo" or prohibition on publicly investigating, or even talking about, psychic phenomena (PSI) or the afterlife, even though it is a topic of vital interest to every human being.
We repeatedly hear from people now living in the astral dimension that those who take the trouble to learn about the afterlife are doing themselves a huge favour. They suffer far less from grief while alive and make a much better adjustment when they cross over. We are told that dealing with masses of people who have no knowledge of spirit is creating a huge amount of work for those who receive them.
The great spirit teacher Silver Birch said: "You send millions who are unprepared, unfitted and ignorant. It is much more difficult to teach an adult the lessons he should have learned in school... Do not blame us for the existence of millions of souls, many of whom are unaware of the fact that they are dead physically, and almost dead spiritually. That is the work you have to do in your world, to prepare people for the life that inevitably awaits them when death comes to their physical bodies." (More Philosophy of Silver Birch p. 69)
DEAN RADIN AND THE WOO WOO TABOO Dr. Dean Radin points out "It is generally believed in the scientific community that spirituality has nothing to offer science. However, some of the iconic figures of science, Thomas Edison, Isaac Newton and Madame Curie, were all actively interested in 'non-scientific' endeavors such as alchemy and contacting the dead."
WHAT EVIDENCE DOES EXIST FOR THE AFTERLIFE? Perhaps the most well known area of evidence for the afterlife is veridical near-death experiences. In these cases, people who are clinically dead are able to see and hear what is happening around their body - things that would be impossible for them to see and know normally. In the video below famous cardiac surgeon Dr. Rudy talks about a case where the patient was dead but was able to describe everything that happened in the operating room including post it notes with messages on the computer monitor of the surgeon. RESEARCH WITH MEDIUMS NDEs are only one of more than 20 different areas of afterlife evidence as outlined in our book. Another area of research is with mediums, most recently conducted by Dr. Julie Beischel at the Windbridge Research Centre.
In the late 1990s Dr. Beischel worked with Professor Gary Schwarz on the Veritas Research Program at the University of Arizona. Strict scientifice tests were conducted with some of the top mediums in the United States including (in order of working with them) Laurie Campbell, John Edward, Suzanne Northrop, George Anderson. Anne Gehmen, George Dalzell, Allison Dubois, Catherine Yunt, Mary Ann Morgan, Janet Mayer, Christopher Robinson, Traci Bray, Sally Own, Mary Occhino, Debbie Martin, Doreen Molloy, Sally Morgan, Robert Hansen and Angelina Diana.
Dr Schwartz wrote: "These mediums have been tested under experimental conditions that rule out the use of fraud and cold reading techniques commonly used by psychic entertainers and mental magicians."

INES BEYER - DEATH IS NOT THE END
In 2008 Ines Beyer entered into the field of Consciousness Science as a volunteer/instructor at the Los Angeles branch of the International Academy of Consciousness (IAC). Her book Death is not the End deals with some of the evidence for the afterlife and, also talks about:
*The three types of "deaths" (or deactivations), and how they affect our awareness.
* How we spend the period between lives and the importance of a life mission.
* Ways to come to peace with leaving this life, and letting family, friends, or partners go.
SWEDENBORG'S GREATEST DISCOVERY Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772), a brilliant scientist, inventor, and scholar, holds a special place in the history of afterlife research. Considered one of the three smartest people who ever lived, he began having out-of-body experiences at the age of 55. For the next 27 years he explored other dimensions. He wrote 18 books explaining that there are many different levels of existence where people live very pleasant and interesting lives, just as real as ours on Earth. This was a huge shock to Protestant Christianity which taught that after death it was either heaven sitting on a cloud or the fires of hell. Swedenborg is said to have appeared to many of the pioneers of Spiritualism and Spiritism, and, together with Benjamin Franklin, was the force behind the coming of Spiritualism in 1848.
