COMMENTARY: THE BATTLE FOR YOUR MIND! We are constantly being bombarded with all kinds of aggressive and subtle propaganda. Materialists encourage us to be unhappy and dissatisfied with what we are and what we have, and to spend money to overcome our "deficiencies". We are constantly getting the message that we are not enough unless we buy their products.
And if we don't have the money, we can buy now and pay later. Materialism is all about the here and now - there is no thought for the future at all. And "influencers" know the buttons of envy and insecurity to push.
Against this 24/7 avalanche of consumerism our inner voice reminds us that life on earth is short and, since we all have to cross over to the afterlife, we need to be long-term planners. We can use our intelligence to ensure that we develop the skills, habits, and qualities that will help us to make a happy adjustment when we cross over. Some of those habits include mindfulness, gratitude, generosity, forgiveness of self and others, cheerfulness, and the ability to appreciate beauty.
Our minds need the time and space to integrate spiritual information which will ultimately guarantee us a safe, easy, peaceful, and a most wonderful transition to a beautiful afterlife! Yes, it's time to slow down, and be a long term planner!
