COMMENTARY:SHINING MORE LIGHT ON SPIRITUALLY TRANSFORMATIVE
EXPERIENCES Congratulations
to Canadian medical doctor Dr. Yvonne Kason on her election
as the President of IANDS.
As well as being an expert in Near-death Experiences (she
had five, two in childhood and three in adulthood), she
has had more than forty years working in a lesser-known
field for which she coined the term "Spiritually
Transformative Experiences" or STEs. As well as NDEs,
these include out-of-body experiences, visions, spiritual
emergencies, awakenings, kundalini, enlightenment, exceptional
human experiences, pre-birth memories, past-life experiences,
nearing death awareness, after-death communications, empathic
or shared near-death experiences, peak experiences, etc.

Many studies now suggest that these experiences are so
common as to be considered normal; according to several
researchers, up to 40% of people have them at some time
in their life. Dr. Kason claims to have collected nearly
a thousand cases from people that she counseled as a doctor
and psychotherapist. She details many of these in A
Farther Shore (1994) and Farther Shores
(2000, 2008) and her latest book, Touched
by the Light: Exploring Spiritually Transformative Experiences
(2019).
And yet in our Western culture, without a cultural or
religious framework to contain them, such states are barely
understood. In many cases, they are viewed by doctors,
clergy, family, and friends of the experiencer, as mental
illness. Hopefully, Dr. Kason's new position will lead
to a much wider understanding of these experiences and
ways to help experiencers to integrate them.

SPIRITUAL TEACHER RAM DAS TRANSITIONS
Ram
Dass (born Richard Alpert) was an American spiritual teacher
and author. He is known to millions as the stellar young
1960s Harvard psychologist-turned-hippie who experimented
with LSD with Timothy Leary and then found his guru in
India. His book Be
Here Now, published in 1971, sold two million
copies and brought Indian mysticism to generations in
the West.
His spiritual teacher, Neem
Karoli Baba (known as “Maharaj-Ji”), gave
him the name "Ram Dass," meaning "Servant
of God," and taught him to "love other people
and serve them. That is all.”
Ram Dass helped the dying, the blind,
and the imprisoned, and considered service as essential
as meditation or prayer."We are all manifestations
of the same greater Self, we are meant to enjoy our roles
here on Earth, and our dying is simply a point of transit".
And along our way, as he put it, "We’re all
just walking each other home.” Read

DEVELOPING HEALING POWER: AWAKENING
HIGHER VIBRATION Jane Katra
Ph.D. has been a pioneer in spiritually transformative
experiences, remote viewing, psychokinesis, and distant
mental influence research. She has been a practicing spiritual
healer for over forty years. At a time when most academics
were hostile to anything beyond the material, she was
teaching about after-death contacts. But the thread that
underlies all her work is the need to bring forward the
evolution of consciousness. She is the author, with
Russell Targ, of Miracles
of Mind: Exploring Nonlocal Consciousness & Spiritual
Healing, and The
Heart of the Mind:
PHYSICIST REPORTS
ON MATERIALIZATIONS
Professor
Jan W. Vandersande is a rare (retired) academic. His book,
Life After Death: Some of the Best Evidence details
what he experienced with a physical medium in South Africa.
He mentions observing flying trumpets, seeing ectoplasm,
and hearing spirit voices through the trumpet. "Those
experiences changed my life in at least two ways,"
says Vandersande, who holds a doctorate in physics and
served professorships at the University of Witwatersrand,
South Africa, and at Cornell University. "Firstly,
it gave me the conviction that there is life after death.
Secondly, it made it possible for me to be able to critically
read much of the literature about psychic and paranormal
phenomena." Read his report on three
sittings with physical medium David Thompson.
REINCARNATION BANNED BY THE EMPEROR'S
COMMAND Emperor Justinian
and his wife Theodora were the ones responsible for banning
any reference to reincarnation from Christianity. As this
video explains, their motives were personal and political.
SOME ATHEISTS BELIEVE IN THE AFTERLIFE-
A person may have a belief in an afterlife or reincarnation
and still be an atheist. My good friend Michael
Roll considers himself to be an atheist, by which
he means someone who does not believe in a personal god
- a god as described by Christians and religionists. But
he writes: "Please don’t be too hard on us
atheists. It only means somebody who does not believe
in a deity. I am having great success in bringing my fellow
atheists over to survival. This is my task on Earth."
AKIANE'S PAINTING PRINCE OF
PEACE RECOVERED When
she was four years old, child
painting prodigy Akiane Kramarik, who was raised in
an atheistic family, began to have visions of a being,
whom she called God, and of heaven. At the age of five,
she disappeared and then mysteriously returned to the
midst of police who were searching for her (source:
video about her early life at 7 mins.15). After that,
she became obsessed with drawing and painting. Since then,
even though she does not attend any church or have any
connection with religion, she claims to have an intensely
personal relationship with Jesus. At the age of eight,
she painted a portrait of Jesus from a vision. It was
very different from the fair haired, light-skinned, blue-eyed
representations common at that time in the USA. She called
the painting Prince of Peace. However, that
painting was allegedly stolen by an art dealer, sold for
next to nothing, and, for many years, it was hidden from
view. Recently Akiane, at age 25, was reunited with the
painting which, in the meantime, had become very famous;
it was sold for U.S. $850,000.
WE
SALUTE HIGHLY GIFTED MEDIUM BERTHA HARRIS
The vast majority of trance mediums bring through only
one, or a small number of, regular communicators, rather
than friends and relatives of the sitter. Bertha Harris
was an exception. During the decades after WWII, Harris
emerged as one of the most prominent of London mediums.
In private sittings, she usually went into a trance and
was taken over by the communicating spirit. One sitter
wrote: "A dead man, my father, had returned, and
was talking to me as intimately as in life. Full names,
incidents, intimate things only applicable to the one
communicating, sometimes predictions, come in a quick
flow which starts almost as soon as the sitter comes into
her presence, and her gift has given evidence of survival
to thousands." Read

JAMIE BUTLER, A MEDIUM AND CHANNELER
Kevin Moore is interviewing a number of
trance mediums about the process of trance in a series
he calls They Call us Channellers. In this episode,
number 25, he travels to Atlanta, Georgia, to interview
Jamie Butler. We have set the video to start after the
preliminaries, where she talks about the challenges of
being forced to suppress her natural mediumship, and the
trauma of re-discovering it.
SIGNS
FROM SPIRIT: LIGHTS AND OBJECTS MOVED
A friend in Crete sent this:
"We also continue to help out Carol, whose husband
passed over from cancer just last week. She has already
had signs from him (possibly). His bedside lamp is one
of those fancy electronic ones where you simply touch
the metal base to switch it off/on. Twice this week, Carol
has entered the bedroom to find the lamp was on. Of course,
such devices are susceptible to interference from "mains
spikes," but the lamp has never switched on "by
itself" previously in ten years. Carol just told
me that she and her husband, Mike, used to watch DVD movies.
Two were his favourites. They hadn't been watched for
a while, so they were at the back of the cupboard, requiring
most of the other DVDs to be pulled out in order to reach
them. Last night, Carol returned home to discover those
two DVDs on the coffee table. When she checked, Carol
found that the other DVDs in the cupboard had not been
disturbed." Read

APPLYING RUDOLF STEINER'S INDICATIONS
FOR WORKING FOR, AND WITH, THE DEAD
Lyn Stull talks about how she has applied Rudolf Steiner's
ideas of being in service to the dead: exchanging and
further expanding significant spiritual thoughts; providing
consistent, conscious spiritual nourishment for the dead;
providing spiritual information/activities which can be
used for their future incarnations and co-creating and
collaborating with the dead for the earth and spiritual
evolution.

WILLIAM MURRAY'S NEW BOOK FORBIDDEN: ESSAYS
ON TRANSDIMENSIONAL PARTNERSHIPS
In
his book Love
After Life, William Murray recounted how the
death of his twin flame, his wife Irene, motivated
him to find, invent, and develop techniques, practices
and methods to reconnect with her. To his surprise, he
was not only able to move quickly
past the grief but, over the course of
a few months, he and Irene managed to develop a happy,
joyful, fun and adventurous transdimensional relationship.
His new book, Forbidden, deals with the opposition
that he, and many of the almost 500 members of the Facebook
group which he co-leads, encounter from the secular world
and from the spiritual community. Read

AN INCREDIBLE STORY OF FORGIVENESS
After being wrongly convicted of murdering his wife, Michael
Morton spent 25 years in jail. Fourteen years into his
sentence, he called out for help from God. A few days
after his heartfelt prayer, he had a spiritually transformative
experience where he says that he was "swept up into
the presence of God." And shortly after that, everything
started changing. Whereas before he was plotting revenge
against the people who had withheld evidence that could
free him, he deliberately chose to forgive them. In
his book, Getting Life,he writes: "And
when I did, I felt as if a burdensome weight was lifted
from my shoulders. It was a physical sensation. And I
felt joy." And, after that, the wheels started turning
so that the wrongs that had been done to him could be
rectified.
Michael was freed and exonerated because
of the dedication of volunteers through The Innocence
Project.
1) Victor and Wendy,
thank you so much! I so look forward to this every week.
You have no idea how much you both have helped so many
people.....especially grieving people, including myself.
I have recommended your site to so many people I've lost
count." Michelle
2) "Wendy and Victor, I especially
appreciated the 99
things to be thankful for in 2019. I’ve shared/posted
the article. Many of these things are amazingly positive...like
miracles. Thank you!" Elizabeth
3) Very pleased to have most of the ‘Silver Birch’
books as part of my library ~ those starting out on their
own journeys of spiritual awakening, shall be brought to
a much greater understanding of what is, as they read and
ingest the wisdom of words contained therein from this great
teacher." Helen
HIGHLY INSPIRATIONAL MUSIC: YOU
ARE SO BEAUTIFULBilly
Preston wrote the song with one of his regular collaborators,
Bruce Fisher. Preston's inspiration was his mother, who
worked as a stage actress. When we hear this song, we are
reminded that this is how our friends in spirit see all
of us - through the eyes of total love.
Lyrics
You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful to me
Can't you see
Your everything I hoped for
Your everything I need
You are so beautiful to me
Such joy and happiness you bring
Such joy and happiness you bring
Like a dream
A guiding light that shines in the night
Heavens gift to me
You are so beautiful to me
