COMMENTARY: THE LOST ART OF CONTEMPLATION
Almost 150 years ago, in 1873, high spirits communicated the following warning through the medium William Stainton Moses:
“The busy world is ever averse from the things of spirit life. Men become so absorbed in the material, that which they can see and grasp, and hoard up, and they forget that there is a future and spirit life. They become so earthly that they are impervious to our influence; so material that we cannot come near them; so full of earthly interests that there is no room for that which shall endure when they have passed away.
More than this, the constant preoccupation leaves no time for contemplation, and the spirit is wasted for lack of sustenance. The spiritual state is weak; the body is worn and weary with weight of work and anxious care, and the spirit is well-nigh inaccessible. The whole air, moreover, is heavy with conflicting passions, with heart-burnings, and jealousies, and contentions, and all that is inimical to us.”
If this was the situation in 1873, how much worse must it seem to the spirit world in 2024? How many of us these days have time for "contemplation" in this age of the hyper-stimulation of social media and the 24/7 news cycle?
How fortunate, then, are those people who choose (or are forced by life-circumstances) to step back from the mad whirl and make use of their time to still the mind, and open themselves to communication with the spirit world.
EVERYTHING IS ENERGY

PSYCHIC PARAMEDIC ASSISTS DISEMBODIED SOULS Sarah Grace talks about her psychic gifts and how she used them as a paramedic. As a child, she was able to see auras and hear people's thoughts. But growing up in a country town of 2,000 people in a violent conservative household she had difficulties understanding her gifts. After a near-death experience, following an overdose at age 19, she remembered that she had chosen a really difficult life for a reason. The video is set to open at 22 mins where she describes how, as a paramedic, she was able to see and communicate with the souls before and after they had left their bodies.
NDES ARE CHANGING THE FACE OF RELIGION Many people are gaining new insights into universal spirituality as a result of experiencing or reading about near-death experiences. Kevin Williams, the founder and web-master of near-death.com writes: "By studying NDEs, I found peace of mind and freedom from rigid belief systems and a far greater love for people and Jesus than I would ever have found in the Bible. I discovered truth was everywhere including in other religions...Once I discovered the kind of love and spirituality found in NDEs, I realized I was no longer concerned about religious dogma anymore. Just follow the simple principle established by Jesus, John, and Paul when they said, "All you need is love."

A PROFOUND NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE
One of the interesting things about Anke Evertz's near-death experience is that when her clothing caught alight she was catapulted out of her body and watched the incident from two metres away. Being distant from the body during trauma is something that we often hear from near-death experiencers. She soon realised that she could then hear what all the doctors were thinking and could put her arms through walls. This continued while her body was in a coma for nine days.
THE BETTY BOOKS Following an experience with an Ouija board in 1918, Betty White, wife of the famous American novelist, Stewart Edward White, discovered she had mediumistic gifts and subsequently began receiving messages from a group of discarnate beings who called themselves the Invisibles. Initially, the messages came via automatic writing, and later while Betty was in an entranced state.
The messages amounted to hundreds of thousands of words that dealt with life’s big questions such as our purpose here and the nature of life after physical death.
Stewart compiled several books from the messages including, The Betty Book (in pdf - scroll down) (1937) and Across the Unknown(1939).
After Betty transitioned in 1939, she was in a unique position to confirm what she had earlier written. She regularly came through another medium and gave Stewart information about the afterlife until he joined her in 1946. The first book after she passed was The Unobstructed Universe (1940) followed by The Road I Know(1942), The Stars Are Still There (1946), and With Folded Wings, which was delivered to the publisher shortly before White’s death and published in 1947. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DIE? Bruce Moen was an engineer, author, and lecturer who learned to travel out of his body at the Monroe Institute in 1992. From then until his transition in 2017, he traveled many times to the different realms (which Robert Monroe called focus levels). He is remembered by many people for his workshops where he taught people how to go into meditation and assist others whose minds have not adjusted to the fact that they are dead. Here, in one of his workshops, he talks about conditions in Focus 27 – what some call the middle astral or third level.

DO ANIMALS EXPERIENCE LIFE AFTER DEATH?
