COMMENTARY: REINCARNATION IS MAKING A COMEBACK
When we first began investigating the afterlife in the late 1980s, the idea of reincarnation was highly controversial. It was a very popular topic in New Age circles but ordinary people made fun of it. British Spiritualists largely rejected it, unlike the Spiritists in France and Brazil who had embraced it since Alan Kardec's The Spirits' Book in 1857.
Many Spiritualists consider it a cruel teaching, imagining that it means that when we die we could find that our loved ones had reincarnated and were out of reach. And indeed many spirit communicators claimed that they had never met anyone who remembered having been reincarnated.
In recent times, evidence suggests that some kind of reincarnation takes place. We now have very large numbers of well-documented cases based on:
1)
children who remember past lives,
2)
dreams of past lives,
3)
past-life regressions and
4)
between-life regressions.
During NDEs experiencers are often told that they 'signed up' for difficult life experiences before incarnating and that they need to go back to their bodies and complete their contract. And it comes up frequently in out-of-body experiences, channeled teachings, and mediumship readings.
At the same time, there has also been a movement toward understanding that we are multi-dimensional beings and that our loved ones will always be available to us on the other side. Some teach that while part of our soul may reincarnate, part of us always remains in the spirit world and that we reincarnate voluntarily with other members of our soul family. We are also reassured that we can always contact our loved ones in spirit, even if they take a different form.
Whatever the truth it is a fascinating subject that is vitally important to our understanding of who we are and the purpose of life.
SPIRIT TEACHERS ON REINCARNATION Spirit teacher Silver Birch (speaking on behalf of a collective of advanced spirits) explains it like this: "People can be in our world for what you call ages and still be unaware of this truth...You will find that the higher ascent in this spiritual scale, the more recognition is there of the fact that there is reincarnation, because it happens, but not in the facile form that is so often propounded. You have heard me say many times that the personality expressed on earth is only a fragment of the total individuality. I have compared it to facets of a large diamond. Facets can incarnate and others can reincarnate".

DR. JIM TUCKER SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE OF REBIRTH
Children can have verifiable past life memories that can be independently corroborated. They can present specific names, places, and events that they never had a chance to know about. The specifics can be confirmed by going back years in the public records. Birthmarks and birth defects can show up at the place in the body of the child claiming to be reincarnated where wounds caused their often violent or traumatic death in their past life.
DR. IAN STEPHENSON FOUND THE FOLLOWING WERE TRUE IN MOST OF THE CASES HE INVESTIGATED • age when the memories appear—usually between two and four
• age when memory fades—almost always between five and eight
• the child behaves like an adult
• claims the new body feels strange
• vivid events are remembered
• a large percentage of the cases remember a violent death
• children show fear of objects connected with previous death
• when children visit their previous home they can point out changes
• often the mother or someone else in the family can remember a dream in which they were told that the coming child was a reincarnation.
• the mothers began to like strange foods during their pregnancy which were the same as the foods liked by the person in the previous life.
• the child has skills not taught or learned
• some have birthmarks or deformities in the same place as a previous life injury.
ONE OF THE MOST DOCUMENTED CASES
The case of James Leinenger is a compelling case for reincarnation that took the world by storm. His memories of World War II that are so detailed it’s impossible he made them up.
PAST LIFE MEMORIES THROUGH DREAMS In 1962 Mrs Smith went to Dr. Arthur Guirdham M.D. in a hospital's outpatient department, where he worked as a psychiatrist. She was seeking treatment for a recurring nightmare which she experienced occasionally since her teens, but was now coming two or three times a week. Although Dr. Guirdham remained calm and professional, he had to hide his surprise while listening to his new patient because he had been having the same nightmare for more than 30 years. PAST LIFE REGRESSIONS THAT LEAD TO EVIDENCE
This is a huge area of research. Many experiments and case studies show that past life regressions can lead to cures of pain and illnesses as well as revealing detailed memories that can be verified. One of the most interesting was an experiment conducted by Peter Ramster, an Australian psychologist who hypnotised three subjects in Sydney and then took them with a film crew to Europe to see if their memories could be verified.
LIFE BETWEEN LIFE REGRESSIONS When Dr. Michael Newton, began regressing his clients back in time to access their memories of former lives, he became interested in seeing into the spirit world through the eyes of clients in a hypnotized or superconscious state. These clients began to tell him what their soul was doing between lives on Earth. His book,Journey of Souls, presents ten years of research and insights to help people understand the purpose behind their life choices. His follow-up book, Destiny of Souls, continued this work. A REINCARNATION THOUGHT EXPERIMENT
Filmmaker Rob Cimperman says that thinking of reincarnation as a video game explains not only the mechanics of it all, but it also why beings with such an ability (e.g., our souls) would definitely take advantage of this opportunity. IAN LAWTON ON REINCARNATION AND THE SUPERSOUL
Ian Lawton's The Big Book of the Soulcontains in chapters 5 and 6 an excellent summary of the findings of twelve different regressionists: Michael Newton, Joel Whitton, Dolores Cannon, Peter Ramster, Modi, Brian Weiss, Helen Wambach, Ruth Montgomery, Robert W. Huffman, Roger Woolger and Dr. Hans Holzer about such topics as the death experience, being welcomed, healing/ rest/ integration, the life review, learning with a group, life planning and life previews.
However in his later book "Supersoul" he refutes the idea of linear reincarnation
and talks about all lives happening at the same time.
