COMMENTARY: TOOLS TO DEVELOP YOUR INTUITION Teachers of mediumship say that all mediums are psychic - but not all psychics are mediums. They explain that mediums need first to develop their intuition - their psychic skills. This is because the way that spirit usually communicates is with subtle nudges - a touch, a feeling, a recurring thought, or a sign.
So what is the difference between a psychic and a medium? Psychics pick up information by paying attention to their senses and developing their extrasensory abilities such as clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, and intuition. Often psychics have no idea where the information they get has come from - they just know. A medium picks up information from a specific identifiable discarnate source - usually a deceased human whom they can hear or see and have a conversation with.

THE MANY FORMS OF DOWSING Some of the most popular tools for connecting with your intuition/ guides are those used in the many forms of dowsing, an intuitive art with a fascinating history. These include a V- rod, made from a forked stick or any springy material such as wood, plastic, cane, or metal; L-shaped angled rods usually used in pairs; wands - single long rods that react to an object with circular or oscillating movements; and pendulums - weights hung from a fixed point so that they can swing freely.
When we think of dowsing, we most commonly think of those people who look for water but dowsing can also be used for determining a state of health, asking questions, selecting healthy food, and so forth.
A MOTHER USES A PENDULUM TO START COMMUNICATION WITH HER SON IN SPIRIT
Carol Morgan learned to connect with her son, Mikey, who died at age 20. She was upbeat and committed and dedicated a lot of time
to documenting signs that she received. After she was shown by a leading medium how to use a pendulum, she practiced every day for more than two years. CARE AND PROTECTION When using psychic development tools (that sometimes lead to communicating with spirit) there are a few basic precautions.
1) Begin with some kind of ritual of protection setting an intention that you are connecting with your spirit and higher self for the highest purposes.
2) Only try to connect when your vibrations are high - not depressed, drunk, or drugged.
3) Use discernment - be aware of the possibility of intrusion by lower entities or thought forms. If you start getting results that seem "off" or cause unease cease communication and take a break.
4) Be prepared to practice until you
get reliable results.
USING YOUR BODY AS A PENDULUM
As with using a normal pendulum, you begin by asking "Show me a yes" and then "Show me a no". Then ask "Is it in my interest to ask questions now?" If you don't get a clear response you can re-phrase the question e.g. "Is it in my best interests to know this information". Some people use the method as they do with "table tipping" to run through the alphabet to spell out words with yes/no replies. As with other psychic tools this method can act as a trigger for mediumship.
REMOTE VIEWING CONVINCED GOVERNMENTS OF PSYCHIC POWERS Remote Viewing is an experimental form of clairvoyance that emerged in the late 1960s, in which a suitably trained person used a meditative state to visualise and draw the topography of a distant scene. Dr. Richard Ireland was a famous American psychic who was also a Spiritualist medium.
