COMMENTARY: SUPPORTING SPIRITUAL CINEMA
Many people have been influenced by afterlife-themed movies (see below for examples) as well as movies and videos directly presenting evidence for the afterlife. And, of course, there are many uplifting movies based around themes of love and forgiveness and living your best life.
"There are wonderful, inspiring movies being made by creative filmmakers all over the world, but hardly anybody is getting to see them because Hollywood isn't distributing them. The Hollywood studios don't seem to think there's a market for movies with heart and soul. At the same time, there are millions of us around the world who aren't going to the movies much anymore because we're tired of the violence and mindlessness of the typical Hollywood movie".
These days with various streaming services and the ability to rent or purchase spiritual movies from online retailers, there are at least alternative channels of distribution. But it is up to those who enjoy spiritual cinema to support filmmakers by renting and buying their products, writing positive reviews, and passing on recommendations in social media. A subscription to the online streaming program Gaia (US $11.99 per month or $99 annually) is another way of supporting creators.
PART 2 OF JAMIE BUTLER INTERVIEW WITH FILMMAKER DAN DRASIN
Medium Jamie Butler and filmmaker Dan Drasin talk about his experiences of the afterlife, both before and during the making of the film "Calling Earth".
LIFE AFTER DEATH - WHY THE GROWING INTEREST?
Medical doctor Elisa Medhurst's blog on Huffington Post asked this question. Apart from the number of baby boomers getting old, she suggested that there are three main reasons:
1) The decline of the power of dogmatic religions.
2) Quantum science is challenging outdated materialism.
3) "Now, the Internet helps us create micro-communities where we can share those “paranormal” experiences in a safe, anonymous place free from scorn...even physicians have become emboldened enough to share the “paranormal” events they’ve seen throughout their careers during the dying process of their patients. Beforehand, they would have feared the ridicule of their peers, who were probably sharing the same secrets." Read more.

NO RELIGION AND NO HELL —
A Fascinating Conversation.
A partner at a large law firm, Nanci L. Danison had been working at least six days a week and waking up at night with case-related stress. She had divorced after five years of marriage, having seen her husband usually only for dinner on Fridays and breakfast on Sundays. In the afterlife, her hard-earned achievements — three academic degrees, a prestigious job, a high salary — seemed no more real or important than a TV show. Seeing her time on Earth as fleeting and minuscule, she understood that everything had originated and would ultimately return to what she calls the “Source” of the universe.

RUPERT SHELDRAKE TALKS ABOUT HIS EXPERIENCE WITH SKEPTICS Dr. Rupert Sheldrake draws on his experience with Professor Richard Dawkins to support his claim that closed-minded skeptics are speaking from prejudice and ignorance.
THE PRECIOUS TIME AT THE END OF LIFE Barbara Karnes R.N. is an end-of-life educator. In her blog she writes:
"In our medical society today, it seems to be very difficult for physicians to tell patients and/or families that death is approaching; that this special person will die, and probably sooner rather than later; that there is no fixing the medical situation.
How much more meaningful and helpful would it be for physicians to say to patients/ families, “We have come to the end of our ability to cure this disease. We’ve tried our best but it is time to focus on keeping you comfortable. You are entering Precious Time. This is the time to do and say what needs to be done and said". Read more.
ALL LIFE IS CONNECTED Cleve Baxter made the astounding discovery that plants have feelings and can recognise people who are unkind to them. Even more amazing, he found that they react to the death of any living thing in their vicinity.
THE DOUGLAS CONACHER TAPES
Douglas and Eira Conacher were a devoted married couple with a publishing business in Central London. They were conventional in every way but one: they were determined that whoever died first would try to contact the other from the afterlife. Douglas, 20 years older than Eira, died first on June 6, 1958. A few months later, Douglas contacted Eira through direct voice medium Leslie Flint. For the next few years, Eira would book sittings with Leslie Flint and have long conversations direct with Douglas speaking in his own voice (i.e. not through the medium). She authored two books with her husband about the spirit world. Both of their names are on the cover. Listen to some of their conversations.
"THERE IS LIFE AFTER DEATH" These are a few of the things Douglas Conacher described: Hospitals, a reception area, and conditions of newly arrived souls, architecture, the effect mind has on colours used for afterlife architecture. The soul's need to eat on lower spheres is genuine but as they progress they find food is no longer necessary. Certain qualifications are required to be a teacher just as on Earth. Education, books, and school building architecture in the spirit world. The way of life mirrors life on Earth until one gradually becomes more developed and moves toward higher spheres. Gardening in the afterlife, flowers that grow as high as trees, colours, perfumes, and the auras of flowers. How people sow, plant, and reap in natural soil. A note about Q AND A FOR DEVELOPING MEDIUMS We have decided to discontinue the group Q and A for developing mediums which was started during the worst times of the covid lockdowns. Our volunteer mediums are now busy with their own practices and many of our developing mediums are now working or have found face-to-face circles to help their development. You can see videos of some of our wonderful sessions here.
We would like to thank all of our volunteer mediums, especially our most regular tutors: Christine Morgan CSNU and Nicole Newman who are happy to welcome new students to their classes.
Dr. Susan Barnes CSNU will continue to offer her free development group on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.

Global Gathering Angel Medium Nancy Freier is the creator and publisher of and author of Angel Guidance: Wisdom For Navigating Life's Challenges.
Nancy has been a channel for the Angels of the Great White Light ever since November 18,1986, ~ the day her fiancé Jerry died. Completely devastated, she screamed to God, “Please help me!” and immediately heard an inner voice say, “This is not the end, it’s just the beginning!” She was off on a mission to know what that meant and was divinely guided to learn automatic writing in order to communicate with Jerry. The odyssey of talking with ‘The Other Side’ began. Nancy's ongoing collaboration with the Angels resulted in her producing hundreds of readings anonymously for clients of a holistic healer. The results were amazing and inspired her to tell the stories. Nancy partnered with brother Steve Freier, a metaphysical enthusiast himself, and together they began publishing The Inner Voice Magazine. It included articles and interviews with other notables such as Ruth Montgomery and Louise Hay. It was in print for 9 years and has been published online since 2012. Nancy received additional Mediumship training in 2016 from Matthew Smith of the Arthur Findlay College. She continues to offer Angel Guidance readings and trainings in angel and spirit communication. "AN AMERICAN IN HEAVEN"
Gordon Phinn writes books about the afterlife based on his observations from frequent out-of-body experiences. His character, Melanie, died in a car accident and is still a rebellious teenage goth girl who now lives in an astral college town. In this extract, Gordon reads from "An American in Heaven" which has just been released as an e-book.
In Excerpt 2 Melanie talks about the frustration of being unable to get through to her grieving mother, even though they meet every night when the mother is out-of-body.
HOW TO SQUEEZE MEDITATION INTO YOUR BUSY SCHEDULE You want to start a meditation practice … but …
You have to be at the office early.
Your kids need to get to daycare.
You need to make breakfast—and dinner.
You are always running late.
You like to work out in the morning. These excuses are all valid because you have a busy life. You probably have a suitcase full of other excuses that are also valid. But guess what? You still have time to meditate. Read more.
WISE WORDS FROM A GUIDE
“I am not interested in what you say your religion is... I am only interested in what compassion you reveal to those in pain, how well you listen, what truth you live by, what gentleness you show, what love you convey and above all, what service you render. These are the qualities of an evolved soul and the only things that truly matter.”
White Feather
SCOTT NEESON OF CAMBODIAN CHILDREN'S FUND
From a working-class upbringing in Adelaide, Australia, Scott Neeson built a career as a top Hollywood movie executive, promoting blockbusters such as Titanic, Braveheart, Independence Day, and X-Men. It was a glamorous lifestyle, walking red carpets, partying with celebrities, and dating models. But after a holiday in Cambodia, Neeson made a deliberate choice to give it all up. Instead, he is using the skills he developed in marketing films to raise money to help some of Cambodia's poorest children with his Cambodian Children's Fund. And he has never been happier.
FEEDBACK: 3 only
1) "Thank you so much for all the information you gather and share with us. I just received your book this week. Looking forward to reading it." x Susan
2) "Love the article on Swedenborg". Ann-Charlotte
3) "Always look forward to these and this one was really informative. Thank you for all your hard work!" Margie
A special note from Ann Harrison.
"Yesterday 26th of January was Norman’s birthday. (107years ago) ...Then this morning the weekly newsletter arrived from Victor and Wendy Zammit and I sat to digest the excerpts they had for us this week – it was mainly EVP which brought back 10 years of memories working with Anabela Cardoso and her Journal. At the end of the newsletter was this week’s music Stevie Wonder’s “I just called to say I love you.” - Our Song. (It’s a long story.) I sat listening, with tears pouring down my face – it was as though he’d sent me a hug as thanks for the Birthday present. And they say there is no such thing as coincidences. Thank you so much".
Ann.
HIGHLY INSPIRATIONAL MUSIC - DROWNING An emotional song that catches the common experience that even though you know your loved one is in a "better place", grief comes in unexpected waves and can be overwhelming. Chris Young describes the song as “very heavy and emotional, but in a good way, kind of a cathartic way.”
LYRICS
Still got your number in my phone
And even though you don't know I listen
I still call and wait 'til the tone
Just to hear you saying, "Leave a message"
Since you've been gone I've had to find
Different ways to grieve
There's days that I don't even want it on my mind
But tonight I'm weak
So, I'm gonna pull out pictures, ones with you in 'em
Laugh and cry a little while reminiscing
By myself
I can't help
That all I think about is
How you were taken way too soon
It ain't the same here without you
I gotta say, missing you comes in waves
And tonight I'm drowning
Yeah, I know you're in a better place
And one day I'll see you again
But it's killing me we can't be face to face
I miss my best friend
So, tonight I'm gonna pull out pictures, ones with you in 'em
Laugh and cry a little while reminiscing
By myself
I can't help
That all I think about is
How you were taken way too soon
It ain't the same here without you
I gotta say, missing you comes in waves
And tonight I'm drowning
Yeah, tonight I'm drowning
I know it's a part of life
But I wasn't ready to say goodbye
So, tonight I'm gonna pull out pictures, ones with you in 'em
Laugh and cry a little while reminiscing
By myself
I can't help
That all I think about is
How you were taken way too soon
It ain't the same here without you
I gotta say, missing you comes in waves
And tonight I'm drowning
Yeah, tonight I'm drowning
