COMMENTARY: MORE MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS ARE SHARING AFTERLIFE EXPERIENCES
The informal sanctions on professionals who speak out about the afterlife and the paranormal are very real in competitive scientific and academic institutions. The Journal of Scientific Exploration Etzel Cardena of Lund University, Sweden, describes the blatant attempts to suppress and censor parapsychology research and those who are doing it. Instances include raising false accusations, barring access to journals, suppressing papers and data, and ostracizing and persecuting scientists interested in the topic (read a pdf copy of the article). We have, on many occasions, been contacted by scientists who tell us that they feel that they can't say anything about their contacts with the afterlife until they retire.
But doctors and nurses who work close to birth and death on a daily basis may be more open-minded as a result of direct personal experience. Although we often hear about doctors being highly skeptical, in a survey of 1,044 doctors in the USA, 76 percent said they believe in God, 59 percent said they believe in some sort of afterlife, and 55 percent said their religious beliefs influence how they practice medicine. A book by Dr. Scott Kolbaba includes 'miraculous' experiences by 27 physicians (chosen from 200 experiences he gathered).
So, although there may still be pressure on medical practitioners to keep these experiences to themselves, it is encouraging to see that there are more and more doctors and nurses who are embracing research (especially in the areas of NDEs and end-of-life experiences) and speaking out about afterlife contact experiences.
EMERGENCY ROOM DOCTOR TALKS TO PATIENTS AFTER THEY DIE Dr. Todd Michael, author of The Evolution Angel,The Twelve Conditions of a Miracle, and The Hidden Parables encountered death frequently while working as a trauma physician. Realising that his patients might still be able to hear him after they died, he began to reach out to them after the ER machines had been turned off. In this talk, he explains how he also began communicating with an advanced being who explained why seemingly terrible things happen to good people.
HOW PROFESSOR BARRETT DISCOVERED DEATHBED VISIONS It was Professor Barrett's wife, Lady Florence Barrett, an obstetric surgeon, (pictured left) whose observations led to the serious study of "deathbed visions." She told her husband about Doris, a woman who had died at her hospital after having a baby. Just before Doris died, she sat up and become very excited about seeing a wonderful place and said that her father had come to take her there. Then she expressed surprise to see her sister with her father. It seems that the sister had died three weeks before, but Doris had not been told. This story was so interesting to Professor Barrett that he undertook a systematic study of death-bed visions.
DR. JEFF O'DRISCOLL - NORMALISING SHARED-DEATH EXPERIENCES IN MEDICAL PRACTICE Dr. Jeff has been sharing his profound afterlife experiences in videos, in his book "Not Yet", in speaking engagements and conference presentations. He feels that doctors will only share their experiences if they have safe spaces to do so and is excited about the potential of social media to create such safe spaces.
DR. IAN RUBENSTEIN MEDICAL MEDIUM
Ian Rubenstein M.D. is an English doctor who successfully combines medicine and mediumship at the local level as a primary care physician. His fascinating book Consulting Spirit is the true story of a general practitioner who was drawn into the world of spirit mediumship and started receiving messages from his patients' deceased relatives. His patients did not object. He says that the only time anyone complained was a woman who told the practice manager she was not happy because she "hadn't been given a message."
"THE SCIENCE OF LIFE AFTER DEATH" WITH PROFESSOR ALEXANDER MOREIRA-ALMEIDA
Alexander Moreira-Almeida, MD, is professor of psychiatry at the Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (UFJF) in Brazil. He is coauthor of the new book, "Science of Life After Death". Here he identifies the primary scientific objection to postmortem survival as physicalism, the metaphysical notion that nature is entirely based on matter. He points out that this common notion within academia is not a requirement of science. In fact, it has long been disputed within philosophy, going back to Plato, and is not accepted by many Brazilian psychiatrists and academics. He describes research with Brazilian medium, Chico Xavier. He also describes research on reincarnation and on near-death experiences.
FASCINATING EXPERIENCES WITH MATERIALISATION In this fascinating article from the Theosophical Society's 'Journal of Religion and Psychical Research' Volume 11, No 2, April 1988, Mr. John R. Crowley talks about his experiences in a seance with physical medium Rev. Warren Smith in New York in 1947. He claims that William James, the first educator to offer a psychology course in the USA, materialised and told the sitters that he was working with a group of 42 college students and their two professors who had died in a plane crash. "Now", he said, "Would you like to meet one of the students who, as you call it, 'died' in the plane crash, and has been a part of our experiment?" Naturally, we said "Yes!" and a young man materialized and stood next to him. We talked with him and were struck by his total normality...no evidence of trauma to heart or mind caused by his sudden death." FORMER COP DIES TWICE AND BECOMES A SPIRITUAL AWAKENINGS CRUSADER
Robert Bare died twice on the same day and had two different Near-Death Experiences (NDEs). The first one took place shortly after boarding a plane in March, 2009, where he had a massive heart attack and was clinically deceased for approximately 45 minutes. His second NDE was after being taken to the hospital and clinically died once more, this time for approximately 10 minutes. Both NDEs were profiled in the TV show, “I Survived Beyond and Back.”
"LOSING MY HUSBAND AND FINDING HIM AGAIN THROUGH A MEDIUM"A journalist describes in Elle Magazine her after-death contacts and an accurate telephone reading with a medium. She includes information about the Windbridge Institute (now Windbridge Research Center). Julie Beischel writes "I think it's an important step demonstrative of real change that, in this mainstream magazine, the editor didn't require the author to also talk to a denier who would inevitably discount her powerful after-death communication experiences as coincidence and/or the wishful thinking of a grieving widow". BARRY EATON'S PAST LIFE
Barry Eaton, a former ABC radio and TV presenter and newsreader, is an Australian medium, astrologer and the author of the best-selling book “Afterlife: Uncovering the Secrets of Life After Death.” He claims that in a past life he was a young WWI British soldier named Brian, who died in the Battle of the Somme, which took place in France in 1916. He says thanks to a past-life regression he relived the exact moment of Brian’s passing as well as his experience in the afterlife. Barry has written four books so far and is the head of the internet radio station “RadioOutThere.com”:

THE HUMAN-ANIMAL CONNECTION WITH GRETCHEN BICKERT Last Sunday Gretchen Bickert led a sharing session on the animal-human connection at our Global Gathering last week. She talked about the connections she has had with animal companions and the ways she was able to support them in their health (Gretchen is experienced in alternative and palliative care for animals) and celebrate their lives. Then members of the audience joined in with their stories of animal connection and how one animal was particularly significant in each of their lives. Gretchen runs a similar sharing group on zoom on the 2nd Thursday of each month US time. Watch for the announcement in the Free Afterlife Zoom Groups list.

FEEDBACK: 3 only
1) "Thank you! Love Mr Buhlman’s work! I have been obsessed with NDEs since 1988 but only recently discovered ‘The Consciousness Explorers’! Brave souls like him, Mike Marable, Gordon Phinn, and my fave teacher Tom Campbell". Sheila
2)
"People who don't know that side of their being are only living half a life.
It is wonderful knowing who we truly are and what phenomenal power we possess as spiritual beings having a corporeal experience".
Jane
3) "Studying and applying Silver Birch's wisdom has certainly made me a more universally loving person. I can't imagine more compelling evidence of his authenticity". Eric
SOMETHING INSPIRATIONAL: THE EXQUISITE VOICE OF EVA CASSIDY Eva Cassidy's haunting voice turned her into a star - five years after her death from melanoma at age 33. While she was alive she never got further in life than temporary jobs and rented flats, a bus ride from the house where she grew up and where her statue stands. Yet now when people hear her singing they dissolve into tears at the delicacy of her phrasing and sweetness of her voice. Listen to her exquisite version of "Songbird".
