COMMENTARY: FROM A LEGAL PERSPECTIVE
When materialists and closed-minded skeptics refuse to accept the objective evidence for the afterlife, we are reminded of a courtroom scene. Imagine that the police prosecutor in a case of murder has brought in one hundred witnesses. All of these witnesses are highly accredited scientists, doctors, lawyers, writers, psychiatrists, psychologists, physicists, and many others. All of the witnesses state that they saw the accused take a gun out of his belt and shoot the victim five times in the chest.
Then the defense lawyer stands up and argues the debunkers' argument:
• all the prosecution witnesses are hallucinating
• they were all hypnotized
• they are all in collusion with the prosecutor
• alternatively, all of these witness are projecting their own guilt onto the accused
• these witnesses exteriorized their own extra energy collectively which killed the victim
• (and if all else fails) it was super-psi.
We have personally had many undeniable experiences of contact with people who have "died"– as have hundreds of millions of people around the world. Over the last twenty years, as knowledge about afterlife contact is becoming widespread, more people are prepared to talk about these experiences. These experiences are reaching a threshold, and as more people share them, the contact field is being strengthened. Expect big things. There is ‘nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come’.

Dr. Jim Tucker and Dr. Kim Penberthy of the UVA Division of Perceptual Studies (UVA DOPS) were the presenters for this special panel discussion of “Is There Life After Death?”, at the SXSW conference, 2022. Dr. Tucker is the Director of the UVA Division of Perceptual Studies. Dr. Kim Penberthy is a faculty member of UVA DOPS and has a special interest in research related to altered states. TWO VERY IMPORTANT BOOKS Professor Edward Kelly (also from (UVA DOPS) was one of the authors of a book for “scientifically-minded, intelligent adults" who fit generally into the “spiritual but not religious” category.Irreducible Mind: Toward a Psychology for the 21st Century (2009) demonstrates empirically that reductive materialism is not only incomplete but false. He also edited Beyond Physicalism: Toward Reconciliation of Science and Spirituality (2015). This latter book is being hailed as the sign of a major turning point for modern science.

A MUCH LOVED MEDIUM AND TEACHER There is shock and sadness within the Spiritualist community this week following the sudden passing of Rev. Janet Nohavec on Wednesday, July 27, 2022. Janet was a tutor at The Arthur Findlay College and taught and demonstrated mediumship internationally. She was a beloved teacher of many current mediums as well as pastor and founder of The Journey Within Spiritualist Church. Janet authored a very popular book on the development of mediumship 'Where Two Worlds Meet'.
