COMMENTARY:
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO RELIGIONS IN THE AFTERLIFE?
There are five major religions
in the world today: Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism,
and Islam. But researchers estimate that there are more
than 4,200 religions and 'faiths' in total. This week
I was asked whether they all continue to exist in the
afterlife. The answer is yes, and no.
In the initial stages of the astral world,
people still gather together to continue their earthly
religious practice. We are told that they have temples
and preachers, and many think that they have reached the
'heaven' which was promised to their followers alone.
Out-of-body experiencers like Robert Monroe call these
states "belief
system territories." Some are pleasant, some
are oppressive, and most seem to be boring.
People stay in them until they begin to question and gradually
awaken to the one true religion of love which exists in
the higher areas of the afterlife where there is recognition
of one creator/source and the unity of all. An excellent
book on this subject is William Buhlman's
Adventures in the Afterlife.
IS THERE LIFE AFTER DEATH? FIFTY
YEARS OF RESEARCH AT THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA
In this Medical Center Hour, faculty from the Division
of Perceptual Studies highlight the unit's work since
its founding, including studies of purported past lives,
near-death experiences, and mind-brain interactions in
phenomena such as deep meditation, veridical out-of-body
experiences, deathbed visions, apparent communication
from deceased persons, altered states of consciousness,
and terminal lucidity in persons with irreversible brain
damage.
LIFE AFTER DEATH - WHY THE GROWING

Elisa Medhurst's blog on Huffington
Post asks this question. Apart from the number of baby
boomers getting old, she suggests that there are three
main reasons:
1) The decline of the power of dogmatic religions.
2) Quantum science is challenging outdated materialism.
3) "Now, the Internet helps us create micro-communities
where we can share those “paranormal” experiences
in a safe, anonymous place free from scorn...even physicians
have become emboldened enough to share the “paranormal”
events they’ve seen throughout their careers during
the dying process of their patients. Beforehand, they
would have feared the ridicule of their peers, who were
probably sharing the same secrets."

REMEMBERED Dr.Carl Wickland
was a psychiatrist who claimed
to have cured many mental illnesses that he said were
caused by spirit obsession. Anna Wickland was a psychic
sensitive to whom "earthbound" entities could
be transferred after her husband applied a mild electric
shock to the psychiatric patient. Dr. Wickland would then
talk directly to the entity and convince them to move
on with the help of his spirit team. The book is largely

DYING FOR A BETTER LIFE A
South Korean service is offering free funerals - but only
to the living. More than 25,000 people have participated
in mass "living funeral" services at Hyowon
Healing Center since it opened in 2012, hoping to improve
their lives by simulating their deaths. Dozens took part
in the event, from teenagers to retirees, donning shrouds,
taking funeral portraits, penning their last testaments,
and lying in a closed coffin for around 10 minutes. Funeral
company Hyowon began offering the living funerals to help
people appreciate their lives, and seek forgiveness and
reconciliation with family and friends, said Jeong Yong-mun,
who heads the healing centre. Jeong said he is heartened
when people reconcile at a relative's funeral but is saddened
