SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE One of the giants of the investigation of afterlife gives some wise advice against stubborn skepticism:

PROFESSOR FERNANDO SINESIO'S STUDY VERIFIES MEDIUMSHIP Our Italian correspondent, Claudio Pisani, tells us that Professor Fernando Sinesio of the University of Genoa Psychology Department, has been conducting experiments with mental mediums. Eighteen participants connected by phone with an experimenter. They did not speak directly with the medium (who was on another line) and did not hear what he/she said to the experimenter in their reading. The participants then had to choose which of two telephone readings by the medium applied to them. Sixteen out of 18 participants, working with three different mediums, chose correctly. The odds of this happening by chance are two in a thousand, well above chance.

DISCARD ANY WRITINGS WHICH INSULT YOUR INTELLIGENCE One of the liberating things about the teachings of Silver Birch is that he constantly tells people to think for themselves.

KNOWLEDGE IN THE AFTERLIFE Many people mistakenly believe that once we cross over we become all-knowing, all-powerful and spiritually advanced. Numerous sources tell us that, on crossing over, our character, our level of spirituality, our knowledge and interests will be exactly the same as minutes before we died. We will find ourselves in a "consensus reality" where we meet with those who think the same way we do. There we will have the opportunity to evolve spiritually and to obtain more knowledge. CARL SAGAN'S VIEW OF SPIRITUALITY In his book The Demon Haunted World, Carl Sagan made it clear that he was a materialist:
"Despite usage to the contrary, there is no necessary implication in the word “spiritual” that we are talking of anything other than matter (including the matter of which the brain is made), or anything outside the realm of science....

Yet When we recognize our place in an immensity of light years and in the passage of ages, when we grasp the intricacy, beauty and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling, that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual."

QUESTION: I am in my eighties, but am still active for my age. But of course I no longer look like I did at 20. On crossing over to the afterlife, am I going to have an old face full of wrinkles?

Victor: This is a frequently asked question! Yes, the good news is that on crossing over, when you continue to make spiritual progress, you can choose to lose all the wrinkles ...if that is what you want. Some people may prefer to adopt a more "mature" appearance. But like everything else in the afterlife, we have to earn everything we get. For the good, average person that would not be a problem. Above left, are fictitious pictures to illustrate how an older person may choose to revert to her younger self. But, don't forget, what is really valued in the afterlife is the brightness of your aura.



QUESTION: PROTECTION OF OUR BODY DURING SLEEP If our own etheric spirit body leaves our physical body during sleep, is there anything to prevent some wandering earthbound, low vibrating spirit from possessing, or obsessing it?

"What prevents this happening is the natural law that you cannot be obsessed by undeveloped spirits unless you are in a condition to be obsessed. The spirit is not in the body, for the spirit does not belong to the same rate of vibration as the body. You - the real you - are NOT inside the body. You are not tucked in between your heart and lungs. You are consciousness expressing itself through the earthly machinery of your physical body.

All that happens when you sleep is that the consciousness, instead of expressing itself through the physical body, expresses itself through the spirit body and, because of that, it is expressing itself in the planes of spirit. There is no question of another coming in. It is not as if you have opened the door to your body and someone walks into the body and shuts the door. It is not like that at all. It is that the consciousness, still in charge of the body, expresses itself on another plane and returns as soon as it is time for it once more to associate itself with the physical body." from The Spirits Book.
