COMMENTARY: POST-MATERIALIST SCIENCE IS ALIVE AND WELL A group of internationally known scientists, from a variety of scientific fields (biology, neuroscience, psychology, medicine, psychiatry), participated in an international summit on post-materialist science, spirituality and society at Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Arizona, on February 7-9, 2014.
The summit was co-organized by Gary E. Schwartz, PhD, Mario Beauregard, PhD, the University of Arizona, and Lisa Miller, PhD, Columbia University. Its purpose was to discuss the impact of the materialist ideology on science and the emergence of a post-materialist paradigm for science, spirituality, and society.
Those present concluded that the sciences are being constricted by dogmatism, and in particular by a subservience to the philosophy of materialism, the doctrine that matter is the only reality and that the mind is nothing but the physical activity of the brain. They argued that the sciences would be more scientific if they were free to investigate the natural world in a truly open way – without the constraints of materialism and the prejudice of dogma – while adhering to the scientific methods of data collecting, hypothesis testing, and critical discussion.

main reasons:
1) The decline of the power of dogmatic religions.
2) Quantum science is challenging outdated materialism.
3) The Internet helps us create micro-communities
where we can share those paranormal experiences

have become emboldened enough to share the paranormal
events they've seen throughout their careers during the

BEQUESTS THAT ENABLED FORMAL STUDY
OF THE AFTERLIFE
The
University of Virginia is one of the few academic institutions
in the world to have a department dedicated to several
major areas of afterlife research. According to its website, The
Division of Perceptual Studies or DOPS "strives
to challenge this entrenched mainstream view by rigorously
evaluating empirical evidence suggesting that consciousness
survives death and that mind and brain are distinct and
separable". The creation of DOPS in 1967 was initially made possible
by the financial support of philanthropist Chester
Carlson, a multimillionaire physicist, inventor, and
lawyer. He had been a great supporter of Dr. Ian Stevenson's
work with children who remembered past lives and gave
significant funding both before his death and in his will.
The unit has had to be self-sustaining as it receives
no money from taxpayers or the University and other generous
bequests have been vital to its survival.

The Spirit Search and Rescue group is held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m. Eastern US time ( 8 p.m. London time).
Gordon is teaching the technique of conscious meditation to connect and assist souls needing help to complete their crossing over following the death of the physical body. Each session contains an introduction, a period of around 15 minutes for conscious meditation during which Gordon joins each group member in turn to observe their work, and then a de-brief session.

In the early 2000s
Nimo Patel had it all - a college degree, a high-flying wall-street job and fame as an MTV rap star. But he found it all profoundly empty. He let go of the money and the fame.
