COMMENTARY: MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS ARE SHARING AFTERLIFE EXPERIENCES Dr. Todd Michael asks and answers the question "Should medical doctors be talking about the afterlife?" His argument is: "Yes, We should be talking about this because I'm talking to a lot of other ones [doctors] and a lot of nurses and they're saying 'Yes we perceive this too, at one level or another, and there's nothing wrong with it.' We LET the medical profession shame us in subtle ways. They don't come right out and sanction us and censure us, but we let them keep us from talking about it." (see video at 31 min 30 sec).
In competitive scientific and academic institutions, the informal sanctions on professionals who speak out about the afterlife and the paranormal are very real. In The Journal of Scientific Exploration Etzel Cardena of Lund University, Sweden, describes the blatant attempts to suppress and censor parapsychology research and those who are doing it. Instances include raising false accusations, barring access to journals, suppressing papers and data, and ostracizing and persecuting scientists interested in the topic (read a PDF copy of the article). We have, on many occasions, been contacted by scientists who tell us that they can't say anything about their contacts with the afterlife until they retire.
However doctors and nurses who work close to birth and death are generally more open-minded as a result of direct personal experience and are speaking out. Dr. Scott Kolbaba writes about 'miraculous' experiences by 27 physicians (chosen from 200 experiences he gathered).
DEATH AND LIFE'S MEANING WITH DR. LEO GALLAND
Dr. Leo Galland is board-certified in internal medicine. He is listed in "Leading Physicians of the World" and "America’s Top Doctors". He has courageously gone public with a book about after-death contacts with his son Christopher who died suddenly at the age of 22. Christopher was a brain-damaged special needs child who challenged everyone he knew with his unpredictable behavior and uncanny insights. After his death, he revealed to Leo the real purpose of his life, as a spiritual guide who taught others by confounding their assumptions and expectations. Dr. Galland's book Already Here tells of the profound lessons that Christopher taught his father.
HOW PROFESSOR BARRETT DISCOVERED DEATHBED VISIONS
It was Professor Barrett's wife, Lady Florence Barrett, an obstetric surgeon, (pictured left) whose observations led to the serious study of "deathbed visions." She told her husband about a woman who had died at her hospital after having a baby. Just before the woman died, she sat up and became very excited about seeing a wonderful place and said that her father had come to take her there. Then she expressed surprise to see her sister with her father. It seems that the sister had died three weeks before, but Doris had not been told. This story was so interesting to Professor Barrett that he undertook a systematic study of death-bed visions.
ATHEIST DIES: SHOCKED BY WHAT SHE SEES ON THE OTHER SIDE
Nancy Rynes, an atheist and scientist, had an NDE (Near-Death Experience) after being hit by an SUV while riding her bike. She claims that she went to heaven and met God and an angel and says that her NDE changed her entire life.
FORGIVENESS NEEDED BY THOSE WHO HAVE DIED One of the main things our loved ones say when they communicate through a medium is that they want forgiveness. SILVER BIRCH ON THE IMPORTANCE OF BUILDING A LIFE BASED ON SPIRITUAL TRUTH In 1957, Michael Flagg, the founder of The Universal Spiritual Brother&Sisterhood (USB) on earth, met and was addressed by the highly spiritual guide Silver Birch who, through medium Maurice Barbanell, encouraged him to disseminate spiritual truths.
Silver Birch highlighted humanity’s dangers of self-destruction and its need for spiritual leadership, stressing how “...All our efforts are directed, wherever channels can be found, towards the single purpose of ensuring that the spiritual truths upon which the whole of life are founded should be the basis by which man everywhere builds his life.”
This message (and other wonderful quotes from Silver Birch) was reported in "Two Worlds", an English newspaper, in February 1958, in an article titled “Spirit Teachings Bear Divine Hallmark—Silver Birch", which increased Michael’s determination to spread widely the teachings great spirit beings gave him; they are now compiled into the book Spiritual Light.

Bill Hicks (1961-1994) was an American stand-up comedian, writer, social critic, satirist, and musician. He rejected his family's Southern Baptist religious beliefs and instead explored transcendental meditation, psychedelics and alternative spirituality.
One of his famous lines was "Today, a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration—that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves". This is one of his best monologues.

Something completely different. An interesting tribute by Guy Sebastian, a popular Australian musician and songwriter, to a close friend and musical collaborator who died in 2019 (see backstory). He created a joyous celebratory song that is spreads the message of the afterlife to young people. It reminds us to stop postponing catchups with friends and make time to spend with them before their time runs out.
