COMMENTARY: OUT-OF-BODY EXPERIENCES (ASTRAL PROJECTION) AND THE AFTERLIFE For over 2,000 years there have been reports of people finding themselves floating up above their bodies while sleeping, or finding themselves suddenly behind or above their bodies looking down on them.
They are reported in all indigenous cultures and by many famous writers who wrote about their OBEs.
There has been limited research done on them,
but it appears that between 5 and 15% of the population have reported having an out-of-body experience at least once. In the United States, Karlis Osis and Ernst Bonitta spent several years doing scientific research with Alex Tanous. A psychic, Christine Whiting, was able to see him when he was out of his body and described in detail his position, the shirt with rolled-up sleeves and the corduroy pants he was wearing.
However, it is only recently that there has been a massive increase in accounts of what the afterlife is like based upon out-of-body experiencers travelling further than the earth-like astral into the higher etheric realms, sometimes for many hours at a time, These accounts provide a rich database of information about the afterlife, sometimes even more detailed than that provided by near-death experiences. They also totally corroborate what mediums have been telling us for centuries.
And, with organisations like The Monroe Institute and the International Academy of Consciousness teaching people ways to have their own experiences, and with the internet to share them, we can expect OBEs to contribute to a massive awakening of human consciousness.
WILLIAM BUHLMAN - A PASSIONATE ADVOCATE FOR OBE TRAINING William Buhlman states he has been having out of body experiences for more than 40 years. He has been teaching courses on how to have an out-of-body experience at the Monroe Institute and independently for more than thirty years. His first book Adventures Beyond the Body (1996) explains the basics. His second book The Secret of the Soul—Using Out-of-Body Experiences to Understand Our True Nature (2001) deals with some of the different kinds of OBEs both positive and unwelcome. He talks about OBEs in children, OBEs caused by combat and trauma, meeting loved ones in the afterlife and transformational experiences. His book has excellent chapters on the history of OBEs and on ways to have an OBE. He also discusses what can be expected from an OBE and what the benefits are. OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCES AND SPIRITUALISM Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) was a brilliant scientist, inventor, and scholar, who holds a special place in Spiritualism. Considered one of the three smartest people who ever lived, he began having out-of-body experiences at the age of 55. For the next 27 years, he explored other dimensions. He wrote 18 books explaining that there are many different levels of existence where people live very pleasant and interesting lives, just as real as ours on Earth. This was a huge shock to Protestant Christianity which taught that after death it was either heaven sitting on a cloud or the fires of hell. Swedenborg is said to have appeared to many of the pioneers of Spiritualism and Spiritism, and, together with Benjamin Franklin, was the force behind the coming of Spiritualism in 1848. A BRAZILLIAN PIONEER OF OUT-OF-BODY EXPERIENCES - AUDIOBOOK IN ENGLISH Dr. Waldo Vieira (1932-2015) had his first lucid out-of-body experience in 1941 at the age of 9, something he describes in this video. He retired from medical practice at a young age and spent the final 30+ years of his life full-time researching consciousness in general and out-of-body experiences in particular. His book Projections of The Consciousness recounts 60 of the author's most illuminating out-of-body experiences (OBEs, astral projections) from a six-month period in 1979.

SPIRIT-ORGANISED WRITING PARTNERSHIP
Alberto Oyarvide tells us that Spirit used Dr. Waldo Viera and Chico Xavier to write several books dictated by Spirit authors. Each would be given alternating chapters without the knowledge of the other. This began when Xavier wrote in automatic writing dictated by Andre Luiz Evolution in Two Worlds. It was only when Xavier finished the heap of disjointed chapters that his "guiding spirit" told him to contact Dr. Vieira. Dr. Vieira's chapters - written without knowing the previous chapter by Xavier - took up the narrative exactly where the other had left it. OBE EXPLORER CREATES VISUAL DIARY OF THE AFTERLIFE REALMS Jurgen Ziewe has been having out-of-body experiences in full waking consciousness for more than fifty years. He has travelled to many different realms and interviewed people. Later, as a graphic artist, he created images of what he has seen.
