COMMENTARY: WHAT'S IT LIKE TO CROSS OVER? Many subscribers ask "What am I likely to see?" "Where will I go?" "How am I going to feel?" "What can I do to prepare myself for the precious moments when I cross over into the spirit?"
It is good that people ask these questions; we hear all the time how knowing what to expect reduces anxiety and helps people to settle in quickly.
If you are conscious toward the end, you will be aware of friends and loved ones gathering around you. You will be met by the person you feel closest to—often a mother or a partner. Children often describe being met by a "beautiful lady". Sometimes dying people will have a glimpse of paradise and begin to hear beautiful music.
Many people who have been ill for a long time and are not conscious at the time of transition describe waking up in a beautiful hospital-like setting and seeing people who they think are nurses. They are surprised at how well they feel.
When the spirit body slips out of the physical body (usually from the top of the head) all pain will be gone. Your body will feel light but solid. You will feel in perfect health, with all your memories and the same level of character you had just before your physical body died.
A PERSONAL DESCRIPTION OF DYING The actual act of dying is as simple as dozing off after lunch. A drowsy feeling fills the whole of your body with relaxing comfort. You can still see, with your earthly eyes the room about you. Then you notice that there are all kinds of new people standing around your bed, people that you once knew, such as parents, a favorite uncle, a friend who passed over many years sooner. The joy of seeing them again takes your mind off everything else. They take you by the hand and lift you to your feet. This invariably causes you to look back at the bed and to your surprise, you, or your mortal shell, is still lying there. You say aloud: 'But how can I be here with you people and yet still be lying there on the bed?' Only then do you realize that this is death".

GEORGE OLSON DESCRIBES HIS ARRIVAL IN THE AFTERLIFE IN HIS OWN VOICE Leslie Flint was a direct voice medium. His was a very rare kind of mediumship. PSYCHIC LABORATORY EXPERIMENTS
It would be wonderful to see more experiments like this EEG analysis that American Professor Charles H. Hapgood reports in his excellent book, "Voices of Spirit" (1975). He claimed that he tested medium Elwood Babbitt to see if the electroencephalograph (EEG) of the medium when out of trance would be different from when the medium's mind was allegedly taken over and controlled by intelligences from the afterlife.
Hapgood took EEGs of Babbitt while three different intelligences were allegedly in control of the medium. The EEGs of each of the three were found to be completely different from each other and from the EEG of Babbitt not in trance. An EEG expert, Dr. Bridge, noticed that the EEGs were characteristic of people of different physical ages and could not belong to the one person. Hapgood reproduces the EEG diagrams in his book (1975: 224-227).
